Midtown #hoboken. Shown here is a photograph of a recent rehabilitation. The idea with this post is that we are comparing the original first tread, which has been laid on the floor in front of the replacement first tread, which in turn has been installed. Both new and the original (circa 1890's t...

Almost famous and now "in the news": The company's work mentioned (see pen point) in an article about a Hoboken remodel in "The Journal of Light Constuction", a national industry / homeowner monthly.

You work hard. You try your best to behave. Life can be hard, but you keep plugging away. Don't you deserve decent stairs to come home to? Here we are doing a tread and riser replacement in an existing home, changing the nasty old 15 coats of paint and a zillion-carpet-staple-treads into wide pla...

The two flights of original stairs in our 1880s brownstone required serious attention. I had been planning (okay, more like avoiding) this for years and Marty Anderson came highly recommended for his quality work, his sensitivity to older buildings such as ours and his love for detail. I finally reached out and am glad I did. His crew did impressive work leveling and replacing every tread and riser, and dealing with everything else they uncovered along the way. The result is amazing. Rock solid. In the unlikely event that these stairs will need repairing 130 years from now, I will definitely call Marty again. Other things I appreciated: in our first meetings, Marty was thorough in walking us through the steps involved and was patient with my many questions. His years of experience helped with all the decision-making. It was a big project and once he got going, it required mutual coordination with the family to give the crew the time and space they needed each day. But they were exc...

We had Marty and his crew repair a loose flight of stairs within our condo building plus some loose steps on another flight. Echoing what others had said, Marty took a look at everything and was honest and straightforward about what needed to be repaired. I will say that his crews are very busy so make sure you book quickly after your estimate comes in as they have a full plate of work! Henry and Israel were on site for a few days and were great: they showed up on time, worked diligently, and are very careful/respectful of the building (putting down floor protection, cleaning up every night, storing their equipment neatly). They clearly take their work seriously. Marty even followed up to replace some small pieces of trim that broke due to age and had them up in short order. We were very impressed with the quality of Marty and his team's work and have recommended him to others.

Marty repaired our crooked, creaky old stairs by replacing all the risers and treads. He also replaced all the spindles on our shaky hand rail. He and has crew have a great concern for detail and the stairs are so beautiful and completely quiet, and rail is no longer shaky. I would hire them again and recommend you check them out too.
